NLR Airport Hosts Fly, Drive, and Shine

North Little Rock Municipal Airport recently celebrated antique planes and cars at its second annual Fly, Drive, and Shine event to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The free event was organized with assistance from Garver, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.

“North Little Rock has a hidden gem in our airport, and we want to share that,” Airport Director Clay Rogers told local reporters.

“This has been a fun event with something for everybody,” said Garver Project Manager Jordan Culver. “I’m glad to have the opportunity to work with a client that plays such a pivotal role in the community, and events like this put that role on display.”

Garver’s most recent work at the airport includes the runway lighting rehabilitation performed last fall. We’re happy to provide a quality service for our client so they can provide a quality service for theirs.

Garver, Enterprise Partner to Support Children's Hospital

L to R: Enterprise Area Rental Manager Jonathan McClendon, Garver Administrative Asst. Peggy Bridgeman, Enterprise Branch Manager Aaron Elliott, and Senior Project Manager Scott Leach

Because of Garver’s strong working relationship with Enterprise, the rental car company recently donated $1,500 to a charity of Garver’s choosing. While Garver works with a variety of charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis holds a special place in Garver’s heart as it’s the location where Transportation Team Leader Scott Leach’s nine-year-old daughter, Lakelee, is a patient.

St. Jude’s mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of the hospital’s founder, Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

Garver is proud to be a part of a working relationship that aids the mission of such organizations. Thank you to Enterprise for giving us this opportunity to help St. Jude. We hope and pray for Lakelee Leach and all those children at St. Jude who are in a fight against cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

Visit the hospital’s website to find out how you can help.

Tencleve Explains the Benefits of Pavement Maintenance Programs in PRSM Magazine

The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM) recently used its magazine’s “Best Practices” issue to feature an article by Keith Tencleve, director of AssetMax, which is a division of Garver devoted to saving companies money by managing their pavement more strategically.

In the article titled “Data-based Pavement Management,” Keith explains the necessary elements of an effective pavement management program and the importance of having a proactive program in place.

“Decision-makers with their fingers on the pulse of the industry know we've saved our clients a significant amount of pavement maintenance dollars,” Keith said. “Including my article in the magazine is indicative of a trend I think we’re seeing now for retailers to search for new ways to positively impact their bottom line.”

Garver Sponsors Dallas Youth Program

Garver is providing 25 students from Dallas's southern sector with a scholarship to attend the Frontiers of Flight Museum's Summer Flight School, which introduces pre-K through 10th grade students to aviation and principles of flight through a hands-on curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. The students will attend camp at one of two locations--Dallas Executive Airport or Dallas Love Field Airport--and study a variety of topics ranging from aviation engineering to robotics.

“[Garver’s] support of our educational programming is appreciated and is essential to the museum’s success as it enables us to continue to provide our community with high-caliber programs and services,” said Cheryl Sutterfield-Jones, president of the museum.

“We believe very strongly in the encouragement programs like the Summer Flight School give to students,” said Garver’s Texas Aviation Director Frank McIllwain. “I’m proud of the work our company does to promote the aviation infrastructure at places like our Dallas airports, and doing what we can to bring together the airports, the museum, and students is one of the best ways we can do that. Together, we're helping kids to soar high.”
